The First National Bank of Shoshoni, Wyoming

The First National Bank of Shoshoni, Wyoming opened in late 1905. The First National Bank of Shoshoni closed in 1924. Surprisingly, despite this long corporate existence, the bank only issued a quarter million dollars worth of national bank notes. It printed about 16,500 1902 blue seal national bank notes and 3,300 1902 red seal national bank notes. Despite the skewed numbers towards blue seals, today only a 1902 red seal exists. However, it seems extremely likely that a couple of blue seals from The First National Bank of Shoshoni will eventually turn up. Its charter number is 7978.

The first president of The First National Bank of Shoshoni was CH King. Today Charles Henry King is known less for being a one time national bank president and more for being the paternal grandfather of former president Gerald Ford. Charles Henry King was only at The First National Bank of Shoshoni for two years. When The Wind River National Bank of Shoshoni failed, the management team of AJ Cunningham and HJ Shadd took over The FNB of Shoshoni. FA Harmon or Frank A Harmon was the first cashier of the bank.
