Charter: 11784

Year Opened: 1920

The Farmers and Merchants National Bank of Eureka received its national charter in 1920 but did not choose to issue currency until the small-size period beginning in 1929. This is highly unusual. Most banks chartered around that time only issued large-size notes and gave up the privilege for any number of reasons by the time it came time to print small-size notes. Thanks to The Farmers and Merchants National Bank of Eureka’s strange decision it became the only bank in Nevada to only issue small-size notes. It was also the last national bank to be chartered in Nevada during the note issuing period.

First President: J. Sheehan
First Cashier: C.J. Traverse
