Charter: 5994

Year Opened: 1901

The First National Bank of Wailuku on Maui was the first national bank to be chartered on that island. The bank issued less than $100,000 of national bank notes and it currently appears that only two have survived. We know that of those notes, one has recently been donated to a museum and the other is not likely to be sold any time soon. However, both of those two notes known have low serial numbers and are in excellent condition. There is a very good chance other notes are waiting to be found as well.

Due to the fact that these are territorial brown backs, they will be quite valuable. If you have some currency from The First National Bank Wailuku we would love to hear about it.
